Windows for Highland Weather – Tougher, Warmer, Smarter

The Highlands have experienced some particularly gusty weather recently, with Storm Isha and Storm Jocelyn as the recent culprits. Without a doubt, the recent elements have caused havoc and destruction at some home (and business) addresses caused by flying debris (such as branches, or bigger objects like trampolines and wheely bins). Not knowing exactly when the stormier winter season will subside, this blog post shares what makes our windows that bit tougher for Highland weather and how we can respond to your window emergency when wilder weather strikes.
1. Well installed, quality windows
Well installed, quality windows can be one measure you take in protecting your home (and family) from the more blustery and stormy conditions. What's more, acoustic glazing (a popular extra) to window installation has great soundproofing capabilities and does an outstanding job at reducing noise...so even the most rumbling of storms can be toned down. We started manufacturing our own windows in 1988 and we have worked hard to source the highest quality products to make our windows that bit tougher for the Highland weather... hence our business strapline - Tougher, Warmer, Smarter. Our windows are also tested to BS7412 (wind and water penetration) and BS7412/PAS24 (enhanced security) and are marked using the ISO 9001:2015 quality management system. Our Alba Windows (which is part of Cairngorm Group) has long been recognised as one of the leading fabricators of trade frames in Scotland. This area of our business deals directly with joiners, house builders and customers who are doing their own self build project. The great thing that comes with using our trade route is Alba's own designated team to deal with enquiries and quotations. Our trade route also carries a substantial level of stock which increases the likelihood that we can fulful your request, and allows us to respond to emergencies quickly (as opposed to waiting for standard lead times from other suppliers). 2. A prompt response to window emergencies
A timely reaction to fixing any problems you find with your windows can save your home from being further exposed to the elements (causing more draughts or dampness, for example). With the recent battering from the wind and the rain, it couldn't be a better time to remind you of our emergency hotline service - our Window Doctor. This handy, fast response on-call service is suitable for all homeowners (whether we were in charge of fitting your windows or you are none the wiser who fitted them) because we understand that anyone's issue with windows can be a 'pane'. Whether your windows are leaky, misted, broken, or something else, we can source parts for all window types and offer a free, no obligation quotation - where many enquiries are fixed on our first visit. Head to our designated Window Doctor page or call 01463 238 000.
