A Prime Time for Home Improvements: Spring/Summer

Between clocks springing forward in April, a surge of Bank Holidays coming up in May, and more favourable weather, could it be a prime time for home or commercial building improvements? Like many contractors will relate to, home improvement installations (window, doors, glazing, conservatories and solar) are often at the mercy of the Scottish Highlands weather (especially in the autumn/winter), which may result in unforeseen interruptions. Getting work carried out in the spring and summer months can therefore be less hassle for you, and with (hopefully) less draughts during your fitting. Our blog post details some areas of work that might be great to tick off your home improvement list this season.

Double Glazing

Perhaps less spoken of are the wins of double glazing in the warmer months. Just like double glazing helps to regulate a property's temperature in the winter, the same applies to the summertime. With better heat regulation, there comes less need to keep electric fans running to cool the room down in warmer months. Where you might be extra mindful of UV rays scorching your property's soft furnishings (and fading or discolouring them over time), double glazing adds another layer of protection for your furniture, carpets and curtains. That means that you'll be less dependent on your blinds to shut out the daylight whilst still letting the sunshine cast onto your home, keeping your space bright from natural light. All in all, double glazing offers year-round comfort, and its initial investment is sure to pay dividends in the future!

Home Security

When the sun shines, the family becomes occupied at the annual barbeque in the back garden or when we open our windows and doors for better ventilation, the security of the home can easily be compromised, making you more vulnerable to home break-ins and burglaries. From our window offerings (which also includes casement and reversible options), our tilt and turn windows are reinforced by four locking points (and will likely be the window of choice if security comes top of your shopping list). To add further security reinforcements, check out our Smart Locks page.

Doors

With brighter and warmer evenings, you might find more people out for a stroll in your neighbourhood. Our Composite Door Builder allows great customisation options that any homeowner will appreciate (and is sure to be pleasing to the eyes of passersby). Plus, if you're in the position of selling your property (or thinking about it), upgraded (and attractive) entrance doors can create a great first impression and an excellent boost to your kerb appeal.
